Below are listed biographies of our Roadshow Roadies. Also, take a look at the slideshows from where some of them have been with the Doug and the Ancient Forest Roadshow.

Roadie Slideshows:

John Barnard

"I live in Bow, Washington halfway between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia. I earned a degree in marine science in 1973 and worked on several research/data gathering projects till 1979. I attended chiropractic college and have been practicing since. You cannot separate personal health or the health of our communities and cultures from our natural environment. That's the health care crisis: our air, our water, our oceans, our FORESTS, are being destroyed at an alarming rate. Seeing the last remnants of our ancient forests being destroyed has inspired me to take action. The Roadshow will educate and hopefully inspire people to take action to protect our ancient forests. Whether you just love yourself or love a frog, the forests are us and we are the forest."

Forest Berg

"I'm doing my part in the road show because I feel any contribution I can give of myself to educate the public on ancient forest issues is vitally important to me. I've been an activist for years...part-time, intermittent, and full-time. I was involved in Headwaters at the start of that campaign and have been involved in many ancient forest battles since then. My work with the Forest Service has been in the recreation field and has been educational for me. I have always promoted ecology and sustainablility within my field and the Roadshow is another way to do it." Photo of Forest

Todd Carey

Todd's a Roadshow Staffer. Find out more about him here.

Seth Cool

Seth graduated from Western Washington University's Huxley College with a degree in environmental science several years ago. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, backpacking, sailing, windsurfing, bicycling, and snowboarding. Photo of Seth.

Chris Dillard

Chris works with Northwest Ecosystem Alliance and began there working on the Canada Trade Campaign with Joe Scott. In the fall of 2002 Chris transitioned into his current role as a contracted web master in order to free up time to work on local issues in the Bellingham/Whatcom community, and was cofounder of the group Pro-Whatcom. Chris really likes clean air and clean water and sees no reason Bellingham can't have both! In the photo, that's Chris and his pal, Molly. Photo of Chris

Hudson Dodd

Hudson grew up hiking the foothills of Appalachia, then followed the call of conservation activism to the Pacific Northwest after college at Ohio University. At NWEA, Hudson works with folks from all different walks of life organizing grassroots volunteer projects and putting on high-profile events. An avid backpacker, Hudson is prone to jumping into frigid bodies of water. He's also the author of "The Brewpub Explorer of the Pacific Northwest," a guidebook to the Northwest's microbrewery scene. He lives in Bellingham with his partner, Dawn Gauthier. Photo of Hudson.

Demis Foster

Demis is a Roadshow Staffer. Find out more about her here.

Frog

Frog didn't provide us a bio, but through secondhand information, we've managed to piece together bits of her history. She was born Latashia Constantinof and was raised in Havana, Cuba. Having developed a love for democratic freedoms and the New Kids on the Block as a young girl, she stowed away at the age of 14 on an American freighter bound for Oklahoma. On the way there she changed her name to Frog. She worked various odd jobs to survive that were so odd she decided to commit herself to environmental advocacy instead. Her favorite color is pumpkin and her favorite band is still New Kids on the Block. Photo of Frog

James Johnston

James is the Director of the Cascadia Wildlands Project, a group working to protect ancient forests in the Pacific Northwest. James, who was raised in the small Oregon timber town of Fall City, helped lead the efforts to protect the ancient forests at Warner Creek in Oregon from salvage logging. James is an experienced nature photographer specializing in forest and NW landscape scenes. Photo of James

John King

"It feels so good to be out educating folks about what is going on with our public lands and the effort to save what we have left. For me, much more than the mountains is at stake....most of my childhood "playground" in Virginia is in danger of being decimated by very poorly planned logging projects in many of the watersheds that supply local residents with their drinking water, not to mention recreation and food during the hunting seasons. I will continue to educate, recreate, and play in the mountains that I call home no matter what the outcome. But as the trees fall, a small piece of me falls with them. LET HIGH KNOB STAND!"

Kevin Miller

Kevin has been an active Grove Guardian in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. "We have destroyed enough, lets save National Forests for habitat, recreation, and generation of clean air and water. We can rejuvenate rural economies with restoration forestry and recreation. Until there is permanent protection, someone will always be after the timber." Kevin is active in multiple areas of social justice with a focus of connecting peoples actions to the impact on others while promoting sustainability, equality, and nonviolence.
